...because the account was deleted. By me. On June 12th, 2023, I and many other users boycotted Reddit to protest the new decision to charge for third party apps that were once 1. free to use and 2. crucial to good site moderation. Third party apps had many features that improved the quality of the site, including more accessibility options for visually impaired users, but Reddit is trying to monopolize on its official mobile app.

Many servers went private or deleted. The protests had some success and even caused Reddit to crash a couple times due to inactivity. That's a sign that our voices were very much heard.

However, Reddit forcibly opened some participating subs.

The CEO of Reddit claims that this protest is only backed by a minority of moderators. If he really believed that, he wouldn't have been worried about any significant change,  nor would he have replaced protesting moderators with scabs who re-opened the servers. What is his intention in saying such a thing? To shift our perception of reality. We're smarter than that. Don't fall for it. 

Whatever glamorous Reddit update comes out next, remember this fable:
